This sensory bin was a blast to make! The combination of the red, white, and blue was really fun and I think you will have fun making it too!
Start with a baseĀ of dried kidney beans, dried white beans, blue glass gems, and some shredded paper. Mix the red beans with the red shredded paper, the white beans with the white shredded paper, etc.

Next, arrange the beans, gems, and paper in the sensory bin until they resembled a flag. Cute, right?
Add some red, white, and blue beaded necklaces and some small American flags.
Put in a small liquid measuring cup, a small plastic container, and a star ice cube tray as an invitation to play in the sensory bin.
Finally set the bin out and watch you kids enjoy!

The kids love the way the flag looks at first, but then have no problem messing it all up right away.
They especially enjoyed mixing all the colors together and love all the different textures in the bin. The liquid measuring cup was the coveted object from the bin and the small American flags were a popular choice as well.

This sensory bin is great for toddlers. But to make it more interesting for preschoolers print the dot marker flag outline (which is also used in the 4th of July crafts and 4th of July games posts).
Have them take the things out of the bin and put them on the circles to complete the flag. It’s easiest if they use the beans, the gems, and the paper.

The sensory bin is more fun for the older kids when this simple matching game added to it. Your kids will love playing with it as it gets closer to the 4th of July!
