Cookie Cutter Match

Holiday themed cookie cutters are pretty easy to find during the holiday season. This is a fun activity you can make with the Halloween cookie cutters you might find around.

First trace 5 of the cookie cutters onto orange construction paper then I cut them out.

Once they are cut out, glue the orange paper onto black construction paper so that the shapes stand out even more. To use this tray, have your toddler match the cookie cutters to the cut out shapes.

Sorting

This tray has a piece of orange construction paper with a line down the middle. It also has a bowl with two types of Halloween stickers. The idea is for your toddler to put the correct Halloween sticker on the correct side of the paper.

You can do the first few for your child so they can understand how to do the activity.

Cutting

For this toddler tray, draw a simple Halloween-ish scene on a black piece of paper. A simple version of just a house, a tree and a moon. 😉

This tray also had strips of paper with ghosts drawn onto it, plus some scissors and a glue stick. Have your toddler cut a ghost off the strip and glue it onto the paper.

Coloring

You can get this cute pumpkin coloring book from 3 Dinosaurs (Halloween Toddler Pack, page 15-17). To make it a little easier for your toddler, you can just put four colors in the book (red, orange, blue, and green). After you put the colors in put four markers (red, orange, blue, and green) on this tray.

Have your child color the pumpkins the correct color. This activity has the added bonus of giving your child some fine motor practice by removing the marker caps and putting them back on!
